Stylish hotel on Reykjavik's main shopping street

This stylish, modern hotel makes the perfect starting point for a city break in Reykjavik. It’s in an absolutely ideal spot, right in the heart of the city on the main shopping street – Laugavegur. And less than a 10-minute walk will take you to the famous Hallgrímskirkja church in one direction, and the waterfront on the other. 

If you fancy a bite to eat or a drink without having to head out, you can pop down to the hotel’s nature-inspired restaurant, Lóa Bar-Bistro. It’s named after the bird that marks the start of spring and serves a mix of Icelandic and international dishes, as well as a breakfast buffet. There’s a bar section, too, which offers a menu of drinks featuring signature cocktails – perfect to enjoy during the Friday and Saturday night live music sessions. Don’t have much time to spare?     Hallgrímskirkja

    If there’s one landmark you absolutely must visit in Reykjavik, it’s Hallgrímskirkja – the 74m tall, rocket-shaped church that dominates the city skyline. It’s impressive enough just to look at (and take photos of), but it’s also well worth taking the lift up to the observation point at the top for magnificent views overlooking the world’s northernmost capital city and out towards Mount Esja in the distance. It’s arguably Iceland’s most iconic building, and you’ll find it just a 5-10 minute walk away from the hotel.

    From authentic Vietnamese and Mexican street food to experimental twists on traditional Icelandic cuisine, this compact food hall brings together an eclectic mix of vendors inside what used to be Reykjavik’s main bus terminal. With a relaxed, convivial atmosphere, reasonable prices and live music on weekends, it’s a thoroughly enjoyable place to hang out – and it’s literally just a few steps from the hotel’s front door.

    It’s virtually impossible not to walk up and down Laugavegur a few times while visiting Reykjavik – especially when staying at this hotel, which is right on it. Here, on what is undoubtedly the liveliest street in the whole of Iceland, you’ll find everything from cosy craft beer bars and trendy fashion boutiques to artisan bakeries and even a Michelin star restaurant. It’s also the best place in the city to hunt for souvenirs.
